Beer Events Brewing This Week in Milwaukee: Dec. 10-15

Milwaukee is the center of the barrel-aged stout universe on Saturday. Plan your weekend accordingly.


Tuesday, Dec. 10

Celebrate the release of Haulin’ Oats Mahogany Lager at Sugar Maple (441 E. Lincoln Ave.) at 6 p.m. It’s a collab between Shane Butner of McFleshman’s Brewing and Craig Welch of Stone Arch Brewpub.


Wednesday, Dec. 11

Head to The Brass Tap (7808 W. Layton Ave.) for the Teddy Bear Kisses Toy Drive at 5 p.m. Some of the taps will be devoted to Upland Brewing, including a few barrel-aged Teddy Bear Kisses Imperial Stouts. Donate a toy and get a free Upland beer (except for the limited stuff).

The Milwaukee Beer Society takes a trip to Enlightened Brewing (2020 S. Allis St.) at 6 p.m.


Thursday, Dec. 12

Explorium Brewpub (5300 S. 76th St.) is releasing a trio of holiday-themed beers. Get there at 5 p.m. to try Gingerbread Brown Ale, Chocolate Lager and Cherry Cheesecake Sour.

Try beers from Bavarian Bierhaus from 3 to 6 p.m. at Discount Liquor Milwaukee (5031 W. Oklahoma Ave.).


Friday, Dec. 13

Santa’s Toy Drive comes to Lakefront Brewery (1872 N. Commerce St.) from 5 to 7 p.m. Donate a toy to Toys for Tots and get your picture taken with Santa. Afterward you can revel in the fact that you met the jolly old elf and reward yourself with a beer.

Try samples from Bofferding and Indeed Brewing at Discount Liquor Milwaukee from 3 to 6 p.m.

Central Waters (3 to 6 p.m.) and Bofferding (4 to 7 p.m.) will be at Discount Liquor Waukesha (919 N. Barstow St.).


Saturday, Dec. 14

Third Space Brewing (1505 W. St. Paul Ave.) releases Nexus of the Universe Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout starting at 11 a.m. This year’s version has been aged for nine months in bourbon and brandy barrels with cacao and vanilla. Variants includes a Double Barrel Nexus aged for a total of 21 months in a bourbon barrel followed by a port barrel, Chocolate Orange Nexus is aged in bourbon barrels with cacao and orange peel, and the festive Tom & Jerry Nexus aged in brandy barrels with lactose, vanilla, nutmeg, allspice and clove.

And just a couple of miles north, Good City Brewing (2018 N. Farwell Ave.) hosts its annual Density Day at 11 a.m. and its annual release of Barrel-Aged Density Imperial Stout. Good City is also offering High Density Imperial Stout aged in port wine and bourbon barrels, Wild Ale #2, and Scarcity: Coffee Density Imperial Stout.

Saturday is clearly a big day for stouts. MobCraft (505 S. 5th St.) hosts Stout Fest from noon to midnight, where more than two dozen of the dark brews will be available. Sample a few barrel-aged versions including Padishah Imperial Stout, which is available in several variants. One aged in Heaven Hill barrels can be preordered for $20.

Black Husky Brewing (909 E. Locust St.) hosts an old-fashioned cookie exchange starting at 4 p.m. Bake some cookies and share them with others.

Cafe Hollander (2608 N. Downer Ave.) is spreading holiday cheer with samples from Black Husky Brewing from noon to 3 p.m.

Discount Liquor Milwaukee hands out samples from Sierra Nevada from noon to 3 p.m.

Head to Discount Liquor Waukesha to try beers from Indeed (noon to 3 p.m.) and Deschutes (3 to 5 p.m.).


Sunday, Dec. 15

Sahale Ale Works (1505 Wisconsin Ave., Grafton) celebrates its first limited can release starting at noon. The brewery has two tasty sounding beers available. El Fuego Imperial Stout is made with cocoa, vanilla, cinnamon and hot peppers. Cocoa Currency Imperial Brown Ale is made with cocoa and hazelnuts. Each 16-ounce can is $8.
