I don’t really follow many beer writers, but I pay attention to Josh Noel. The knowledgeable scribe for the Chicago Tribune comes to Good City Brewing (2108 N. Farwell Ave.) at 7 p.m. to discuss his book Barrel-Aged Stout and Selling Out. The book tells the story of Goose Island’s growth from brewpub to property of AB InBev. I’ve heard from a few trusted sources that it’s an excellent read.

Raised Grain Brewing Company’s pop-up beer garden comes to Naga-waukee Park (651 Hwy 83, Hartland) near picnic areas 1 and 2 over the weekend. They’ll be pouring from 4 to 9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and from 3 to 9 p.m. on Saturday. Matty’s Food Truck will be there too.
