This week, the Milwaukee Beer Society heads west, Surly comes to The Brass Tap and Saturday is a busy with beer events.

Wednesday, April 24

Madison favorite Karben4 Brewing comes to take over the taps at Ray’s Growler Gallery (8930 W. North Ave.) at 5 p.m.

The Milwaukee Beer Society takes a trip to Westallion Brewing (1825 S. 72nd St.) from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $15 for non-members ($10 for members).


Thursday, April 25

East Troy Brewery makes a visit to Sugar Maple (441 E. Lincoln Ave.) from 5 to 9 p.m. Meet the people behind the relatively new brewery, and try a few of their beers.

The original Surly Brewing tap takeover at The Brass Tap (7808 W. Layton Ave.) had to be rescheduled due to that fun polar vortex. It now takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday. Surly owner Omar Ansari will be there to talk about his outstanding brewery and beer. Also, they’ll have a 2019 barrel-aged Darkness Russian Imperial Stout on tap.

Bierklasse at Cafe Hollander (2608 N. Downer Ave.) focuses on saisons. The learning and tasting starts at 7 p.m. and costs $35.


Friday, April 26

Shully’s Cuisine and Events (146 Green Bay Rd., Thiensville) hosts a three-course beer dinner that features six beer tastings at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $50. Take a look at the impressive menu and you’ll see that it’s worth it.


Saturday, April 27

Lakefront Brewery and Lisa Kaye Catering host a beer dinner at Grace Center (250 E. Juneau Ave.) at 6 p.m. It features four courses and four beers for just $35.

The Cream City Homebrew Competition finals happen at Gathering Place Brewing (811 E. Vienna Ave.) from noon to 4 p.m. Try beers from the 10 finalists. The winning beer will be brewed and served at Gathering Place.

The Brewery Running Series comes to The Fermentorium (7481 State Rd. 60, Cedarburg) at 11:30 a.m. The 5K run starts at noon and winds around Cedarburg before returning to The Fementorium, where you get a beer for your efforts. The cost is $40.

Draft & Vessel (4417 N. Oakland Ave.) hosts a Blessing of the Bock from 6 to 9 p.m. They’ll be blessing a keg of Einbeck Bock and have food from Döner MKE. And, oh yeah, there will be a goat there too. His name is Leon.

Neenah’s Lion’s Tail Brewing is bringing a few of its beers to The Brass Tap at 4 p.m. These guys brew some great stuff, including Juice Cloud IPA, which is on the menu.


Sunday, April 28

Sugar Maple’s Brewery Series features the outstanding Hacienda Beer Co. from 4 to 6 p.m. The offshoot of Door County Brewing is setting up shop in Milwaukee in a few months. Find out why that’s a big deal on Sunday.
