11 Beer Events Brewing in Milwaukee This Week: April 29-May 4

A few more beer gardens, including multiple Tap Yard locations, are opening this weekend, which is certainly good news.

Tuesday, April 29

The homebrewing project of New Barons Brewing Co-op (2018 S. 1st St.) continues. The Beer Keep pits six different SMASH lagers against each other. You get to try each one, beginning at 5 p.m.

Thursday, May 1

It’s opening day at local Tap Yards locations. A sure sign that summer and great beer are near.

Friday, May 2

Try samples from Paulaner and Hacker-Pschorr at Discount Liquor Milwaukee (5031 Oklahoma Ave.) from 3 to 5 p.m.

Discount Liquor Waukesha (919 N. Barstow St.) is offering samples from Modelo, Corona and Victoria from 2 to 5 p.m.

Saturday, May 3

Sample some of the best homebrews in the area at Gathering Place Brewing (811 E. Vienna Ave.) during the Cream City Homebrew Competition. Vote on your favorite from noon to 4 p.m.

The Estabrook Park Beer Garden (4600 Estabrook Dr.) celebrates its grand opening this weekend. They’re tapping a free keg of Brau Buddies Lager, a collaboration between Lakefront Brewery and Hofbräu München, at noon.

The Bayside Beer Garden (600 E. Ellsworth Ln.) opens for the season from 3:30 to 9 p.m. This year, Torzala Brewing Company will be pouring their beers.

Tap Yard – Waukesha (1927 Sunset Dr.) celebrates its fifth anniversary (hard to believe) with a tap takeover by Central Waters Brewing and Toppling Goliath. Some rarities and barrel-aged gems from both will be flowing.

Discount Liquor Milwaukee is offering samples from Modelo, Corona and Victoria from noon to 3 p.m.

Try beers from Paulaner (noon to 2 p.m.) and Lakefront Brewery (1 to 3 p.m.) at Discount Liquor Waukesha.

Sunday, May 4

Eagle Park Brewing (823 E Hamilton St.) is hosting a makers market from noon to 5 p.m. Nearly 50 vendors will be there.

Thursday, May 8: Busby’s (3475 S Kinnickinnic Ave.) is throwing a patio opening party. The festivities include a firkin of Revolution Brewing’s Sun Crusher Summer Ale that’ll be tapped at 6 p.m.

Saturday, May 17: Tickets are already on sale for Frothy Forage, a beer, wine and cider tasting event at Riveredge Nature Center (4458 County Hwy. Y, Saukville).

Saturday, May 31: Lager & Friends comes to Gathering Place. The beer fest is in its seventh year.

Thursday, June 19: Sure, this seems like a while from now, but the New Glarus beer dinner at Tess is already taking reservations. Call 414-964-8377 to make one, because it’s sure to sell out.
