Packer Fans You Just Won the Superbowl…

I completed my student teaching internship in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin – a small town about thirty minutes north of Green Bay.  It’s not a bad place; it’s just not for me.  At the time, my cable provider didn’t carry FSN and I didn’t get adequate radio reception in my apartment, so I would drive to Green Bay to watch Bucks games at Curly’s Pub at Lambeau Field.  Aside from being so close to Titletown (I mean, really…I could drive to Lambeau for dinner!), the only other upside for this young city slicker was the nice neighbors.  One in particular once…

Who’s on Deck?

They say timing is everything.  ‘They’ being comedians, coaches, stock market brokers, and attendees of this year’s Brewers on Deck event.  I mean, I’m sure not all the attendees left with this thought in mind (I’m not so presumptuous as to speak for over 11,000 fans), but it’s what I’ve been thinking since leaving the Frontier Airlines Center yesterday afternoon.   News of the record-setting crowd surprised me when I heard it on the radio during my drive to work this morning.  I’m not good with numbers, but I would have never guessed an approximation even close to 11,299.  In…

All’s Fair in Love and Sports

It all started last Wednesday.  I was working at the Bucks game with a guy who, in addition to working for the Bucks, works for the Milwaukee Admirals.  Long story short, I soon found myself agreeing to help out by acting in a skit at the Admirals game on Friday night.  I believe my exact words were, “Sure.  I’ll do it if you can’t find anybody else.” And by the end of the work day Friday (it had been a heck of a week), I was really hoping they found someone else.  But, no such luck; and a deal’s a deal. …

Should I Stay or Should I Go?

It’s game day and I still don’t have a solid game plan.  It’s tough because part of me wants to be out there among fellow fans, and another part of me wants (needs) to be in a more mellow setting.  It comes down to nerves.  Well, nerves and focus. Okay, nerves, focus, and composure. The adrenaline has been building all week.  I love the NFL playoffs.  Something about a real must-win situation is exhilarating.  (Not to mention that it’s one of the few times the term “must-win” is actually used correctly by sports commentators and fans alike.  The blatant misuse…

FANdemonium on Facebook

Happy New Year, Sports Fans! Hopefully your 2011 is off to a healthy and happy start.  It’ll probably help the whole “happy” part if I choose not to discuss the Rose Bowl, hey?  Consider it done. Good thing I have some news for you…FANdemonium is now on Facebook!  Check it out and join the discussion.  Browse through pictures of my latest Milwaukee sports fan adventures and make suggestions as to where I should be headed next. Currently on the calendar – Brewers on Deck January 30 (for more information, click here), and an Admirals game February 9 (check out their…

The Ultimate Wisconsin Sports Fan Experience

Big week, folks.  Big week.  I’m back in the swing of things here in Milwaukee – teaching, emceeing, providing footage for the bloopers reel with the people at the BC.  I even did a radio interview about the blog with Justin Earl from AM 1130 WISN. I think that went well.  I’ll admit I get nervous for things like that.  But it was kind of exciting, seeing as it was a chance for me to share my excitement for this project.  Hopefully I did that.  At one point Justin asked what distinguishes a Milwaukee fan from other fans.  My on-the-spot…

Back at the BC

I woke up on Sunday still tired and sore.  I slowly realized my exhaustion was due to the fandemonium the day before – an afternoon spent cheering on the UW-Whitewater Warhawks to another national football championship, followed by an evening of supporting the Bucks as they took on the Jazz at the Bradley Center.  Then I realized why my shoulders and arms were sore and my knees were just a little bit creaky.  I had the pleasure of hanging out with the fan famous Squad 6 at the BC Saturday night. You’ve probably heard about Squad 6, the ultimate fan…

It’s Game Time

I’ve spent the past few months in Boston. It’s pretty much a long, irrelevant story, so I’ll spare you the details. But you should know a little about my return – or at least how and why I decided to come back home to Milwaukee. I was at the TD Garden – otherwise known simply as “the Gahden” by Bostonians. Unlike those Boston boys though, I was there to see the Bucks. Save from the game or two I’d caught on my free trial of NBA TV, it would be my first time seeing the team in action in the…
