Valentine’s Day Date Spots in Milwaukee | Milwaukee Magazine

Ask MilMag: Where’s the Best Milwaukee Date Spot for Valentine’s Day?

You’ll find us at a speakeasy on the East Side, a nice restaurant Downtown, the theater and more.

1. Milwaukee Art Museum

MELISA MACKEVICIUS, ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE

MAM is the perfect place for a romantic Valentine’s Day date – you can stroll through the museum exploring the many different genres of art and have deep and intimate conversations about their meaning and what emotions they evoke. Whether it’s a first date or you’ve been married for years, art can create a deeper connection. Then go for a stroll along the lake (or stay in the warmth of the Quadracci pavilion to catch the views). And there are no limitations to the Instagrammable photo opps inside and out.

2. At Random

ARCHER PARQUETTE, MANAGING EDITOR

Well, I’ve never been on a date – but if by some miracle I were to end up going on one, this is exactly the place I would suggest. It has to be the coolest cocktail lounge in the city: the Sinatra on the stereo, the vintage decor, the lineup of fanciful drinks (This place is quickly turning me into an absinthe man.). And obviously, the dim red lighting both looks cool and helps smooth my aging mug. Hella romantic, hella atmospheric, and probably overflowing on Valentine’s Day so consider getting there early.

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!

3. Hobnob

CAROLE NICKSIN, EDITOR-IN-CHIEF AND PUBLISHER

For me, the most romantic spot is the Hobnob in Racine.

4. Shanghai MKE or Odd Duck

ABBY YEMM, ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE

I really love the eclectic allure and fun, surprise element of Shanghai MKE. Also, the bar at Odd Duck is a perfectly intimate place to hang before grabbing a bite.

5. Stella Van Buren

CHRIS DROSNER, EXECUTIVE EDITOR

It’s elegant, romantic and the food is great. And all those elements extend to the bar for a after-dinner nightcap!

6. Lake Park Bistro

SOPHIE YUFA, JUNIOR DESIGNER

I would recommend Bartolotta’s Lake Park Bistro! Celebrate your date with an exquisite dining experience in an intimate space, and enjoy breathtaking views of the lake.

7. Tintype Photo Session With Margaret Muza

ABBY YEMM, ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE

I’m considering booking a tintype photo session with Margaret Muza. Her work is so cool! Growing up, we had a family photo created in a similar style, and I loved telling visitors it was of our great-great-great grandparents. Seems as good as reason as any to book a session and start that tradition in our home.

8. Local Theater

BRIANNA SCHUBERT, ASSOCIATE DIGITAL EDITOR

My partner and I love theater – I am a self-described connoisseur and he’s an actor, so it makes sense that our ideal Valentine’s date is going to dinner and then following that up with a local show. This weekend and next, there are tons of great performances happening around Milwaukee to choose from: Guys on Ice, Xanadu, The Wolves, Mamma Mia, The Savannah Sipping Society and more.
