Ask MilMag: What’s Your Favorite Thrift or Vintage Store?

Our staff share a few of their favorite spots for second-hand finds.

1. Good as New

ABBY YEMM, ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE

This is a shop I’m reticent to reveal. But in the spirit of sustainability and a bag of clothing for about $7, there is a hidden gem called Good as New in Cedar Grove. It’s worth the drive. Especially for glassware, dinner plates, vintage items and actually … everything. Be prepared to dig for treasures – and to walk out with beautifully kept items. 244 S. Commerce St., Cedar Grove

2. Chano’s Warehouse

BIANCA CABRAL, EDITORIAL DESIGNER

Whether you’re in search of clothing, outdoor furniture or unique decorative pieces, this store has a little bit of everything. I’ve been there a few times and was genuinely impressed by the variety and quality. It’s definitely a good place to explore if you’re in the market for furnishings. I’m personally planning to go back soon to find items to spruce up my backyard as we head into the warmer months. 4601 S Fifth St.

3. Antiques on Pierce

SOPHIE YUFA, EDITORIAL DESIGNER

Three stories (yes, you heard me right) of all sorts of stuff, from jewelry to furniture to kitchenware to memorabilia – there are endless possibilities. For example, on a really great first date, I found a practically mint-condition, complete DVD set of Showtime’s legendary series, “The L Word.” As well as a little tequila-bottle-and-shot-holder-basket-with-wheels thing. This place holds secrets, for sure. For all you die-hard Midwest thrifters out there, this is a place you can’t skip. 1512 W. Pierce St.

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!

4. Plume Vintage

BRIANNA SCHUBERT, DIGITAL EDITOR

Plume is my go-to for secondhand finds. I love the curated selection that feels so trendy it could be new styles (except it’s not new, and that’s why I love it). Plus, the space is gorgeous and worth a visit all on its own. 3001 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.

5. Value Village

EVAN MUSIL, ARTS AND CULTURE EDITOR

If you live for the dig and the deals, Value Village is the place. What it lacks in neat organization and exceptional cleanliness, it makes up for in its trove of options and half-off weekends, when literally everything in the store is 50% off. My partner introduced me to the St. Francis location, which has been our go-to. 3100 E. Layton Ave., St Francis

6. 3 in 1 Thrift

CHELSEA MAMEROW, EDITORIAL DESIGNER

There’s a little gem on Hwy 100 called 3 in 1 Thrift. There is a room for clothes and another for decor – packed full but well organized. 3117 S. 108th Street, West Allis
