Ask Ann: Our Dining Critic’s Recommendations for Mother’s Day Brunch

Some recs for where to dine on Mother’s Day

Read all of our Ask Ann questions.

Q. Can you name a few great spots to celebrate Mother’s Day brunch (on May 13)?

A: Oh, the pressure. Maybe that’s why the annual day to toast your madre is the most popular day of the year for brunch, per opentable.com. Even restaurants that don’t normally serve brunch fire up the kitchen for this special day. With so many potential options out there – and there are plenty – which restaurant do you choose? Here are a few ideas to get the ball rolling.

Crazy Water (839 S. Second St.): Sunday brunch (10 a.m.-2 p.m.) is a new addition for this Walker’s Point staple. The resto is doing a three-course menu ($35 per person) with several options in each course. You might order chicken liver mousse with plum relish and toasted brioche, steer beer tenderloin with Portobello and potato gratin, and chocolate bread pudding with whiskey caramel for dessert. No need for dinner…

Another thought is Story Hill BKC (5100 W. Bluemound Rd.), catering to culinary-style mom love from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The regular brunch menu includes super-solid plates like shakshouka (a Tunisian lentil-tomato-egg dish) and baked French toast bread pudding. Expect some Mom-inspired specials, too!

Don’t delay on making reservations. Spots fill up fast.
