Amilinda to Open for Lunch Starting This Month

The Spanish-Portuguese restaurant will begin to-go lunch service beginning mid-April.

The Downtown lunch choices are about to get a little more interesting. The Spanish-Portuguese restaurant Amilinda (315 E. Wisconsin Ave.) plans to start to-go/pick-up lunch service two days a week beginning April 11. They’ll be open Thursdays and Fridays, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

You will be able to eat there although they won’t offer table service.

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!

“We are starting with a small menu just to the get the gears going, and once we gauge demand, we will expand the menu and hours accordingly,” says owner Gregory León, who is a nominated this year for the James Beard Award for Outstanding Chef.

The menu, created by sous chef Trevor Carper, offers four sandwiches and two starters – the latter being smaller versions of dishes from the dinner menu. As the dinner menu changes, so too will the starters. The featured sandwiches are: SLT (serrano ham, lettuce, tomato jam and cultured butter); fried piri piri chicken (fried chicken breast with the Portuguese red pepper sauce called piri piri, along with cabbage and carrot slaw); albondiga (beef meatballs with manchego and romesco sauce); and escalivada (grilled eggplant with peppers, onions and roasted fennel spread). Soft drinks and water round out the beverage list, and those options may expand in the future.

Diners will be able to order in advance through Toast, with the order window opening at 10:30 a.m. and closing at 1:30 p.m.
