All Milwaukee County Parks Golf Courses Are Now Open for the Season

Several of the 13 courses are debuting new renovations and enhancements.

Milwaukee County Parks’ 13 golf courses officially opened for the 2025 season on Friday.

This follows a record-breaking season on the links in 2024 when Milwaukee County Parks golf courses generated more than $11.5 million in revenue from more than 385,000 rounds of golf played. This accounted for about 20% of the Parks system’s operating budget, significantly contributing to ongoing projects and improvements.

County officials held a first tee-off the season event on Friday at the Dretzka Park Golf Course on the Northwest Side.

“We are incredibly proud of the milestones our golf courses reached last year and are excited to offer even more improvements this season,” said Guy Smith, the Milwaukee County Parks executive director . “These enhancements not only elevate the golfing experience but also ensure that we continue to invest in our community and environment.”

Golfers will notice several enhancements this season at multiple courses. Highlights include:

  • Dretzka Park Golf Course: The pro shop at Dretzka has undergone a complete remodel with new flooring, lighting and an expanded merchandise area. The course now features continuous asphalt cart paths and several new forward tee boxes, marking an improvement for daily play and larger golf outings.
  • Brown Deer Park Golf Course: Renowned for hosting the PGA Tour’s Greater Milwaukee Open, Brown Deer will debut a new 20,000 square-foot practice green this summer. The state-of-the-art facility will include large chipping areas and a comprehensive practice bunker. In addition, renovations to the practice range’s tee area have enhanced the turf conditions.

“Our Milwaukee County Parks are comprised of many excellent recreational options, including our popular golf courses,” Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley said. “Milwaukee County Golf is a great way for folks to be outside, experience our parks and help the county generate revenue for operations and investments.”

The 13 golf courses that comprise the Milwaukee County Parks feature tournament and championship courses, regulation layouts, and executive and par-3 courses.
