MUSIC NOTES SHOW OF THE WEEK
Friday, Jan. 21: Liz Phair at Turner Hall, 8 p.m. ($20)
Seasoned musician Liz Phair gained underground acclaim in the alternative music world during the early 1990s. Since then, the songstress has garnered international fame, while honing her sound to have a more pop-friendly appeal. The Grammy-winner, who also transitioned into a television composer and an author of sorts, will delight Turner Hall with all her hits from her lengthy career as pop royalty. Locals Testa Rosa will play their pretty tunes prior. (1032 N. 4th St., PabstTheater.org)
Also: Wiz Khalifa at The Rave, 8 p.m. ($24)
Since his 2006 debut, the once up-and-coming rapper has shown considerable staying power. At just 23 years old, the Pennsylvania-based performer has already amassed his fair share of hits. (2401 W. Wisconsin Ave., TheRave.com)
Saturday, Jan. 22: Delta Routine (CD Release show) at Linneman’s Riverwest Inn, 9 p.m. ($6)

Sunday, Jan 23: School of Seven Bells at Turner Hall, 8 p.m. (FREE)
Rounding out our week and filling the often-vacant Sunday slot is a rare free show at Turner Hall. Appearing in this special event is hip New York-based dream pop act School of Seven Bells. Between the sweet and airy vocals of Alejandra Deheza and the layered electo constructs of Benjamin Curtis, SSB seems deserving of the attention they’ve received from music blogs and indie critics alike. If nothing else, they’re definitely worth the price of admission. (1032 N. 4th St., PabstTheater.org)
