The Shoe Display of My Dreams

We’ve all had that moment, whether it was seeing Carrie’s new closet from Big in “Sex and the City”, or clothing and accessory heaven in “The Devil Wears Prada,” when we thought to ourselves, If I could just have a mini version of that, I would be on top of the world.

What fashion lover doesn’t want to proudly display her fiercest finds? I thought that was only a wish until I approached my husband’s remodeling company, Quality Remodeling Specialists, and asked, “Can I have a shoe display?”

Without blinking an eye, they worked with me to plan how to best showcase my favorite fashion item EVER. That, my friends, is how the shoe display above was born in to this world. When guests come over for a visit, they blow right past me at the door exclaiming “I need to see the IT.”

Because the shoe display is in my bedroom, it’s a great ambient light while lying in bed. The simple design allows it a timeless feel, and you can swap out what’s being showcased easily. Jake Ruiz of Quality Remodeling Specialists is the master mind behind the company’s designs. Not only did he design my shoe display, but he also planned a special drawer for me to use for styling in the morning. Within my vanity, there is a spot holding my hot styling tools that never have to be unplugged, because the outlet is right in the drawer. Every morning I can easily flip on my flat iron and style away. There is even a “kill switch” to ensure the power is off while the drawer is closed.

It’s a wonderful way to start my day.

Jake Ruiz says, “I always have the homeowner I’m designing for in mind. Their lifestyle and needs being the most important, while making sure the end result is beautiful, functional and simple.”

What I loved most about working with QRS is their great communication skills. Everything is laid out for you in detail before the project begins. They even offer 3D design, so you can literally walk through the space you want to remodel. The 3D design can also be opened up on your iPhone or iPad for easy access.

In a world where a budget is always at the forefront, QRS makes sure to keep that in mind while designing your dreams. You can upgrade certain aspects of your remodel, while choosing less expensive materials to keep things affordable.

Something that just can’t be left out of this fashionable homes article is the fact that the house with the “shoe display” was entered in to NARI’s Spring Showcase. It’s a showcase similar to the Parade of Homes, but for remodeled homes. Among 22 other homes, this small 1,650 sq. ft. house was awarded “Best in Show”, beating out multi-million dollar projects in the greater Milwaukee area. Quality Remodeling Specialists was ecstatic about the win. Jake says, “It’s not the size, or the amount spent on the project; it’s all about the design, attention to detail and the homeowner’s good taste.”
