The Last Song will make even devoted Nicholas Sparks fans yearn for a shake-up. On the heels of Dear John, The Last Song is another film adaptation of a Sparks bestseller, and this romance drama has all the familiar elements of the southern beach town, first love, class warfare and tragedy. In Song, Cyrus stars as a rebellious New York teen sent to Georgia to live with her dad for the summer (Kinnear) and subsequently and predictably falls in love with a strapping local boy (Cyrus’ real-life beau Hemsworth). Song is an overall harmless film that boasts an unexpected twist, but the storyline is simple, Cyrus’ acting is amateurish, and the romance is unbelievable.
