Monday, April 2: Canopies and Reptar at Cactus Club, 9 p.m. ($10)
Start with one of the city’s finest electro-pop acts, Canopies. Then, chase it with an up-and-coming Vagrant Records band that has earned (rather accurate) comparisons to such bands as The Talking Heads and Animal Collective. Tuesday, April 3: Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds at Pabst Theater, 7 p.m. ($37.50)
While his brother/sometimes-nemesis Liam is busy in his post-Oasis project, Beady Eye, Noel Gallagher is keeping occupied in a band of his own. Including former Oasis session players and members of British bands The Lemon Trees and The Zutons, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds makes great use of Noel’s voice (that went criminally underutilized in Oasis), as evidenced in the band’s latest single “The Death Of You And Me.” Special guest Mona opens. Wednesday, April 4: Shabazz Palaces at Mad Planet, 10 p.m. ($12)
Seattle-based hip-hop collective Shabazz Palaces have built a sturdy fanbase since inking a record deal with Sub Pop Records last year. Its label debut, Black Up, has been privy to favorable words and high marks on many an indie blog best albums of 2011 lists. (533 E. Center St, Mad-Planet.net)

Thursday, April 5: ZETI at Sugar Maple, 8 p.m. ($11)
Brooklyn (by way of Milwaukee) songstress ZETI—formerly known as “Pezzettino”—returns home along with her trusty accordion and building buzz she’s carefully fashioned one unique muti-instrumental composition at a time. (441 E. Lincoln Ave., MySugarMaple.com)

Friday, April 6: Lucero and William Elliott Whitmore at Turner Hall, 7 p.m. ($20)
Somewhere between Lucero’s 1998 outset and now, the Memphis band made the swift transition from punk rock to country-tinged Southern rock. The change has been a wise move for Lucero. Playing in support is gravel-voiced Midwestern singer/songwriter/banjo virtuoso William Elloitt Whitmore, an unabashed Milwaukee favorite. (1032 N. 4th St., PabstTheater.org)

Chasing last week’s Andrew Bird/Eugene Mirman music and comedy pairing, Milwaukee will now be treated to a unique pairing of Guster’s longstanding and ever-catchy brand of alt-rock along with the self-effacing and observational comic musings of Curb Your Enthusiasm co-star Jeff Garlin.
