Fall fashions are a fashionista’s absolute FAVORITE time of year! This season, I couldn’t be more excited about the trends. While boho looks and layers win by popularity, nerd-inspired looks are one of my favorites. There’s just an innocence about it that instantly draws positive attention to you. So what are some great pieces to add to your wardrobe? I’ve found a few around town you might enjoy.

Oxford Flats

This adorable oxford or saddle shoe flats can be paired with trousers, skinny jeans or with a bunched up ankle sock and cute skirt. Many styles are adorned with a fun color on the sole that pops as you walk. The ones above can be found at Target for $20.

Cross body bags

There’s just something adorable about a small cross body bag swinging at your hip. You can find them in almost any color and shape; I’ve had my eye on the one above from Macy’s by DKNY for $245. A perfect fit for your pen protectors!

Zig-Zag Sweaters

These Missoni-inspired zig zag print sweaters come as button ups, v necks, crew necks and more. They look especially smart with a collared shirt underneath. The one above is from Next Door boutique in Brookfield for $96.

Blazers

How cute is a blazer paired with almost anything? A sparkly tank, a button up, with a vest underneath, an artistically wrapped scarf, SUSPENDERS (ahhhh! I’m getting so excited thinking about it!). The blazer above is from H&M for $40.

The glasses

Of course we couldn’t leave out the most important accessory for this look. The glasses. You can find them at almost any fashionable place, from Target,  to Claires or Ragstock, etc. The style above is $14 at Zumiez.

Also, an upcoming fashion event I wanted you all to know about is taking place at the grand re-opening of Boston Store at Southridge Mall. The TV hit series GLEE’s Tina Cohen-Chang will be there Saturday Aug. 25 launching a line she designed for Wallflower. I expect to see all you Gleek’s there!

Lyneé Ruiz started her career in beauty as a salon hairstylist at Carenza in Brookfield. Seven years later, she signed as a hair and makeup artist for Ford Models in Chicago and Miami. While her job consists of being on sets for advertising, editorial, TV, and backstage at New York Fashion Week, Milwaukee will always be home. Writing about tips and tricks she learns along the way for Milwaukee Magazine is one of her favorite creative outlets.
