The Irish-themed space occupied by 7-year-old Brocach Irish Pub (1850 N. Water St.) is soon to be an English pub named Red Lion Pub on Tannery Row, created by the owners of Milwaukee’s Red Rock Saloon and McGillicuddy’s and of Three Lions Pub in Shorewood. Red Lion’s opening is slated for early December. The owners plan to make aesthetic changes to the interior and exterior to transform the space from Irish to English. The menu will be small but “focused on authenticity,” say the partners, with options like fish and chips and house-made pies and pasties. Drinks will include English spirits, cocktails, plus the expected beer and ale. The Brocach people continue to operate two pubs in Madison and a catering business. No word on Brocach’s closing date. More info to come.
