“…lazy hackdom…” Nick Starkey, Premiere
Attempting to strike his Harry Potter magic once more with this kids’ fantasy flick, director Chris Columbus instead delivers a dull imagining of the popular book series by Rick Riordan. Lerman plays Percy, a typical New York high schooler, who discovers his father is the legendary Poseidon, the mythical god of the sea. That makes Percy a demi-god who also happens to get caught up in an all-out feud amongst the Olympian gods. While adults will be bored with the lame dialogue, implausible situations and overextended running time, Percy Jackson is energetic enough and packed with enough impressive CGI to satisfy its target audience of the book-loving youngsters.
