UW-Milwaukee has long labored in the shadow of UW-Madison, but at least our local UW affiliate could pride itself on being one of only two UW schools awarding doctorate degrees. But look out, here comes UW-Oshkosh, which is graduating its first doctors, Doctors of Nursing Practice, on Saturday. The four come from Oshkosh, Appleton and Green Bay.

Some have blamed the country’s nursing shortage on increasing educational requirements, though the aging baby boomer bubble may be a more significant factor.
