Some things to read while behaving yourself.
We are 81 days away from Milwaukee Brewers pitchers and catchers reporting to Maryvale Baseball Park to open the 2015 season, and we’re a week away from representatives from all 30 MLB teams descending on San Diego for the annual Winter Meetings. It’s rumor season across baseball, and the lack of actual rumors hasn’t prevented many of us from speculating.
Talking Brewers, for example, has suggested the Brewers and Red Sox could trade strength for strength by making a deal involving Yovani Gallardo and infielder Mookie Betts. Gallardo is scheduled to become a free agent after the season, and Betts was a top 100 prospect according to Baseball America before making his MLB debut during the 2014 season.
Of course, Gallardo isn’t the only player the Brewers could consider selling this winter. Tim Muma of Brewers Mix suggests a deal sending Carlos Gomez to the Mariners, and has a list of young players the team could target in return.
