Some things to read while finding your next job.
We are 84 days away from pitchers and catchers reporting to Maryvale Baseball Park to open the 2015 season, and we’re still seeing indications that one Brewer’s longtime nagging injury will be healthy when he arrives there. On Wednesday, Ryan Braun took part in the Brewers’ annual Thanksgiving food drive and told reporters the cryotherapy procedure on his thumb “definitely worked” and “made a huge difference.”
When he’s been able to play over the last two seasons, Braun has hit just .275/.339/.466, posting a still-respectable .805 OPS, but a mark that was 138 points lower than his career numbers entering the 2013 season. He led the National League with 41 home runs in 2012 but has hit just 28 in 196 games since. If he can return to form or at least trend back toward his career numbers, he could add a lot of offense to the Brewers lineup.
A lot can happen during the offseason, but if the 2015 season opened today, outfielder Logan Schafer would likely be on the outside looking in at the Opening Day roster. He’s the subject of the latest installment in Brew Crew Ball’s player-by-player look at the 2015 season, and JP has his profile. Derek Harvey also profiled Tom Gorzelanny on Wednesday.
