In an analysis that ranked the “misery index” of the country’s 200 largest metros, Milwaukee came in at number 14 – behind Chicago, New York City and St. Louis. The factors called out by the writers at Forbes were the terrible winter weather (can you argue that, really?) and the high property taxes. The factors called out by the writers at Forbes were the terrible winter weather (can you argue that, really?) and the high property taxes.

The analysis was based on nine factors including violent crime, unemployment, foreclosures, taxes, home prices, commute times and weather. This year, net migration was added and changed the list quite a bit. Miami, which topped the list last year, was pushed out of the top 20 mostly due to its high migration numbers.
