Compiling
lists of wares that you recommend is one of my favorite holiday
traditions. I love reading about
what other people recommend that I may not know about. My list is completely arbitrary in the
best of ways … these are actually places that I purchased items from to give to
others this season. If we support
our small businesses, they in turn make life in our all our local neighborhoods
better for everyone!

Milwaukee
Design Collection (new name, Residence), located at 5205 W. North Ave., is
an interior design group that also retails affordable home luxuries!
Since I have known owners Kerry Shannon
and Michael Patrick McKinley for many years, I wanted to support their fabulous
taste in home accessories and their small business, by shopping there!
With a large selection of items like
candles, ornaments, art pieces, and calendars it was easy to find bits and
pieces for those on my gift list! For more information visit their Facebook page here.

Sangria
by LOVINO is a little taste of Spain that is produced locally!
It is made from superior wine, all
natural, and produced in Algoma in an environmentally friendly facility.
When one of my clients told me that she
and her husband had started this business, I knew that I wanted to support them
by giving some spirits to those in need of a little holiday cheer on my
list!
 Available at many fine food
and liquor stores all around Milwaukee!
For more information about LOVINO, check it out here.

Goodwill
is a wonderful place to get gift cards for the crafter or the thrift-shopping
lover on your list.
 I gave a gift
card to my goddaughter and she said, “I got a credit card mommy!”
Not only will you give the gift of
reducing, reusing and recycling, you’ll also support community programs that
are vital to helping people seeking employment in today’s tough economy.
For locations and more information on
Goodwill and how it helps those in need go to the website

Indulgence
Chocolatiers, located at 4525 N. Oakland Ave. in Shorewood was introduced
to me by way of a gift card from a client.
I checked it out immediately, and used it to buy gifts for
others as well as a few tasty treats for myself!
May I recommend the s’mores kits that make four gourmet
desserts for $9!
 It is the perfect
hostess gift, or just when you want to let someone know how much you care.
I also got some hot chocolate mix, an
assortment of gourmet chocolate bars and sampled a lemoncello truffle!

Wantable.co
is a beautiful new thing in retail and fashion.
Since coming onto the e-commerce scene this summer, this
local Milwaukee start up company is aiming to redefine the shopping experience
for their customer.
 Offering
expertly curated collections of make up and accessories based on input from
their subscribers, their personal approach is one I can definitely get behind
and recommend.
 Monthly
subscriptions or one-time options are available for those who want to discover
new ways to be more attractive and glamorous with the gentle suggestions of T.
Sammarco, Wantable’s make up expert, and yours truly (I am having so much fun!)
for the accessories!
 Orders are
still being taken for Christmas, and you can give the gift of feeling good
about how you look to someone you love or yourself this holiday season.

One
of my favorite vintage stores is Dragonfly, at 1117 E. Brady St.
Owner Annette always has cool little
items that make perfect stocking stuffers.
I bought vintage Christmas cards and tags, as well as candy
cigarettes and awesome heirloom seed packets with fantastic cover art! For
hours and more go to
the website.

Another
retailer, while much larger than the others on this list, is Land’s End,
actually based in Dodgeville, Wis. I have a soft spot in my heart for this company as I freelanced there a
few years ago decorating their conference room for Christmas press parties
using items from their Christmas offerings. What fun, and what a creative environment to be in! See
items for sale this year like this cool flask available online.

I know this list is completely unique to myself, and the
little universe that surrounds me.
However, if you’re in a pinch and want to check out some “new to you”
ideas, I wholeheartedly suggest supporting these local sources.
