The State Journal just posted a story indicating that the bill just withdrawn by State Rep. Joel Kleefisch (R-Oconomowoc) limiting child support payments was the second attempt by the legislator to work with a donor, developer Michael Eisenga, on legislation that would help him personally.
The Madison newspaper tracks the interactions back to 2010, when Kleefisch met with Eisenga and a lobbyist, Steve Foti. The bill that followed (and later failed) would have favored premarital agreements when dividing property and setting alimony in divorce cases. Eisenga is reported to be unhappy with the amount of alimony a court has required him to pay to his ex-wife.
