H&M Continues Milwaukee Expansion
Milwaukee is a fashionable place (as Fashion Seen blogger Bjorn shows with his stylish week). Perhaps in response to Milwaukeeans’ desire for fashion at affordable prices, H&M will open its third location tomorrow, Oct. 27, at Southridge Mall. The new location will include collections for women, men, young ladies, young men and children in addition to maternity wear and accessories. An opening day perk, the “Access to Fashion Pass” (valued from $10 to $300) will be handed out to the first 100 customers in line. Doors open at 12 p.m. Go ahead, get your shop on!
Area Malls Prohibit Concealed Weapons
Back in July when Gov. Scott Walker signed the Concealed Carry Law, which goes into effect Nov. 1, the Journal Sentinel laid out the choices local businesses, including area malls, could make in response to the new law: A) post signs prohibiting concealed weapons, B) post signs welcoming concealed weapons, or C) do nothing, meaning the store has “chosen to allow anyone who walks through the door … to carry a concealed weapon.” We now know that major malls in the Milwaukee area are going with option A. In a statement reported by TMJ4, Bayshore general manager Chris Jaeger says, “We have always been proactive in implementing and enforcing policies that will promote a welcoming and safe environment for all of our guests.”
What do you think? Does banning concealed carry at malls make you feel more or less safe? Respond in the comments with your thoughts.
In Case You Haven’t Heard…
A new shopping development is in the works in Brookfield. Currently called “The Corners,” the open-air mall will be located at the intersections of I-94, Blue Mound and Barker roads. The project is the result of a partnership between Iowa-based department store Von Maur, which will anchor the mall, and the Marcus Corp. The site is the former location of Menards, which moved to Waukesha in 2009, and the now-defunct West Point Cinemas owned by Marcus. The long process to move the project forward was covered by the Journal Sentinel, and the hope is to open the mall in 2013.
NOTE: Shop & Go is moving to Mondays. Check in next week for a new Store Spotlight!
