I didn’t know much about Milwaukee before moving here. I’d only been here once for a quick overnight stay. It was so long ago, I couldn’t even tell you what I did. I was (and still am) pretty new to the city. In just 18 months, I’ve seen a lot of memorable things: my first Summerfest, a Bronze Fonz, a record flood, a winged museum, a blizzard, and a political uprising. Wow!
I’ve done some cool things, too: gone to an Admirals game, a Brewers game, the Harley Museum and up to Lambeau field. Ok, I know that isn’t exactly in Milwaukee, but hey. I’ve consumed more cheese than any one person should and have made it my mission to try as many restaurants as I possibly can. I can honestly say there hasn’t been a dull moment and I know I’ve just scratched the surface.
I’ve really grown to love it here. There is something for everyone and fun for all seasons. Love sports? Got it. Love the Arts? Got that. Food? Got that in spades! Festivals? Oh, yeah. Outdoor recreation? You bet. Add several colleges to all of that and you’ve got one heck of a good mix.
Like any city, Milwaukee has its share of problems, especially those things related to high poverty. So, I know this particular post probably sounds more like a visitor’s guide and not the “real” Milwaukee I hear people mention. But good, bad and everywhere in between, it’s all Milwaukee and it’s all fair game for this blog. You’ll just have to trust me and keep reading from time to time.
