With a catalog of hits to his record, Gary Allan brought his
brand of soulful country rock to Milwaukee on Friday. From his time playing
clubs in southern California, to countless dates on the road, Gary and his world-class band kept the near-capacity crowd on their feet with the skill that only
time and miles can do. Opener Lindsay Ell had a hard time connecting with the
crowd, which wasn’t helped by a front of house engineer who was asleep at the
wheel, not turning on her microphone for the first half of her opening song.
(On a side note, as someone who toured as
an audio engineer for years I can tell you it’s not too hard to turn on two
channels of a Midas XL4.) Lindsay was
a complete professional though it all, working with a tough crowd who made no
bones about who they came to see.
With his most recent hit “Every Storm,” Gary adds another highlight to his carrier and life
that at times have seen their share of heartache. For anyone who has ever been
afraid to venture into country music for a fear of the unknown, Gary Allan is as
good as it gets in both song writing and as a performer. With a persona that is
simply “cool” Gary Allan makes it an easy first step. Get Gary’s music to see
what you have been missing and I guarantee I will see you at his next show.
