Start Next Year Right
The Evil Twins Beer Dinner at Goodkind (2457 S. Wentworth Ave.) at 6 p.m. on January 6 is one of the first of 2015, and it very well may be one of the best. Acclaimed Minneapolis chef Erik Anderson is in charge of the food menu, and Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø, the founder of the world-class Evil Twin Brewing, provides the beer. The $125 price should be well worth it, and gets you six food courses and seven Evil Twin brews. Space is limited and I would expect the dinner to fill up fast. Barley Pop of the Week
There’s no better time to mention Lakefront Holiday Spice than this week. Lakefront helped usher me into the world of craft beer a decade or so ago and Holiday Spice was one of the reasons. It’s blends the flavor of cinnamon, nutmeg and other seasonal spices with a nice malt backbone. At nearly 10% ABV, it’s a potent reminder that we’re in the holiday season.
Surly Brewing’s new beer hall might be worth a trip to the Twin Cities.

After a few months of speculation, Ballast Point will be showing up on store shelves in Wisconsin at the beginning of the year. The news was reported by Wirtz Beverage Group. Resolve to try the delicious Sculpin IPA.
Last week, Biloba Brewing Company released its first bottled beer, a Belgian Ale. I like the idea of Biloba in bottles.
Founders is re-releasing Blushing Monk, a Belgian raspberry ale that hasn’t been brewed since 2011. Look for it in March.
Next week I’ll wrap up my favorite beers from 2014. It was a good year for beer.

Tuesday, Dec. 23: The holidays wouldn’t be complete without a Festivus celebration and Fink’s (1875 N. Humboldt Ave.) is hosting one. At 7 p.m. the bar taps Une Annee’s aptly named Airing of Grievances Imperial Stout, and at 8 p.m. Feats of Strength Imperial Stout hits the tap. It’s a Festivus miracle!
Thursday, Dec. 25: Give yourself a gift by opening your favorite brew. Happy holidays.
Friday, Dec. 26: Celebrate the season with the Lakefront Brewery (1872 N. Commerce St.) fish fry. The brewery will tap a firkin of IBA for the festivities, which run from 4 to 9:30 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 27: Sample stouts at Three Cellars (7133 S. 76th St.) from 1 to 4 p.m.
