A LOCAL LOOK
- Tonight Milwaukee native Peggy Larson will be presenting her Bliss Bag collection, and 25 additional Milwaukee designers will be hanging around Third Coast Style. I’d tag this as a not-to-miss event of “Fashion Night Milwaukee.”
- Since Fashion Night also falls on gallery night (this is no coincidence), I would recommend stopping by Redline (1422 N. 4th St.) to see its “Human Touch” exhibit. This travelling show features the figure-dominant work of some of today’s most acclaimed artists. I’ve seen it, and I can assure you it’s a little bit like walking through the Met’s modern art wing. In a good way.
- Next Friday marks the “Creatures and Creators” Halloween party at Turner Hall, which is hosted by Radio Milwaukee and Made in Milwaukee. The Fatty Acids will play, and (because there wouldn’t be a local event for anything without a fashion show thrown in), there will be a fashion show. Details and ticket info here.
- Wisconsin native Amy Matto, whom I’ve written about here, has unveiled her latest spring collection. A few of my favorite looks are below and what tops ’em off is that they’re all produced in the U.S. of A.

THE NATIONAL VIEW
- Katy Perry fronts Cover Girl’s latest campaign, and in my opinion, has never looked better.
- Business of Fashion says Nike introduced its latest iteration of the Fuel band, and in other news, I would still like one.
- Oh, that Elle cover. Fashionista says the mag is now defending its Melissa McCarthy cover that took some serious heat for styling the actress in a large coat. The rest of the “Hollywood Issue’s” actresses are comparatively scantily clad. I like the cover because it’s a nontraditional take on the usual Hollywood covers, and my only problem happens to be McCarthy’s pose. I wish she was facing the camera to give some head-on attitude.
