  • Business of Fashion has an essay about fashion and the free press; specifically, the relationship between the major luxury houses and fashion critics, which can often be described as tense – at best. It is worth a read. And here’s another nugget to chew on: what is the relationship between fashion critics and designers in a city Milwaukee’s size? Leave it in the comments.
  • Yesterday, Twitter was in a twizzy (see what I did there?) about a report that claimed Nicolas Ghesquière was named creative director at Louis Vuitton, after Marc Jacobs announced he would be vacating the post. Even I retweeted New York Magazine’s Cut Blog’s announcement. But is it true? Fashionista says there are skeptics, and the brand itself has yet to confirm.

  • Last evening, Mount Mary University celebrated “50 Years of Fashion” by honoring Sister Mary Aloyse Hessburg, who founded the university’s fashion program. Donna Rico, one of the school’s most notable alums and a student of Sr. Aloyse, also attended the awards ceremony.

  • Since U.S. Vogue called off its Fashion’s Night Out festivities, Milwaukee’s Fashion’s Night Out was in a quandary. So local organizers have decided to piggyback off of October’s Gallery Night (Oct. 18), and open up Third Ward boutiques to the same sort of activities. One of the strangest though, according to a press release, is that you’ll have the chance to “own clothing and accessories worn by ‘Gossip Girl’ actress Jessica Szohr at her trunk show at Kasana.” The opportunity of a lifetime, folks.
