- Optix (2636 N. owner Ave.) will be reopening its boutique with a splashy trunk show. The show will feature frames from Oliver and Claire Goldsmith, walk-in eye exams and special sales.

- The warehouse collapse in Bangladesh, which killed more than 400 workers, is still on the minds of many, and some are now wondering about the impact Western shoppers can have on tragedy like this. BuzzFeed’s Amy Odell writes “How Your Addiction to Fast Fashion Kills,“ in which she interviews Elizabeth Cline, who’s new book Overdressed: The Shockingly High Price of Cheap Fashion, exposes the fashion industry’s use of cheap labor in countries like Bangladesh, where working conditions are often hazardous. Her solution? Buy clothes made in the U.S. Also of note: Cline’s website also has a list of stores whose products are produced here.
