  • The warehouse collapse in Bangladesh, which killed more than 400 workers, is still on the minds of many, and some are now wondering about the impact Western shoppers can have on tragedy like this. BuzzFeed’s Amy Odell writes “How Your Addiction to Fast Fashion Kills, in which she interviews Elizabeth Cline, who’s new book Overdressed: The Shockingly High Price of Cheap Fashion, exposes the fashion industry’s use of cheap labor in countries like Bangladesh, where working conditions are often hazardous. Her solution? Buy clothes made in the U.S. Also of note:  Cline’s website also has a list of stores whose products are produced here.

Claire Hanan worked at the magazine as an editor from 2012-2017. She edited the Culture section and wrote stories about all sorts of topics, including the arts, fashion, politics and more. In 2016, she was a finalist for best profile writing at the City and Regional Magazine Awards for her story "In A Flash." In 2014, she won the the Milwaukee Press gold award for best public service story for editing "Handle With Care," a service package about aging in Milwaukee. Before all this, she attended the University of Missouri's School of Journalism and New York University's Summer Publishing Institute.
