Mehrdad? Merhdad? Which is it? I now know two chaps named Mehrdad, and what are the chances of that? One of them is a partner in Third Coast Digest, and gee whiz, he recently lost a huge amount of weight via dieting. I didn’t recognize him at a publication party at the home of Jon Anne Willow. And the other chap with the same first name runs the PCDoctor downtown on St. Paul Avenue, which is where I went when I got the dreaded blue screen on my Gateway, an old warhorse that gave up the RAM ghost. Merhdad (Merhdad?), is Iranian, as is Merhdad #1. And each knows the other. They both attended UW-Milwaukee and then went their separate ways.

Anyway, my computer got fixed and to celebrate my son popped open a wonderful white wine from Napa Valley. The owner is Iranian (formerly Persia) and the label sports a portrait of King Darius of Persia. It was all very coincidental to my knowing two guys named Mehrdad (Mehrdad) in Milwaukee. Some weeks are like that. Thank God I no longer am forced to use a bright red mini-laptop with room enough only for the digits of elves. How anyone can work on the thing, I mean seriously work, is beyond me. The keyboard is also red with no backlight, making the keys impossible to see. I don’t know, I couldn’t find anything to like, but a tiny red mustang horse that trotted across the screen when I went online, which was as seldom as possible.

Peace reigns now, and my fingers fly across my keyboard, big and broad and reliable

I highly recommend PCDoctor on St. Paul, in business for two decades. Call ahead, and there are two freebie parking spots for customers, in the lot adjacent to and south of the building housing the first floor business. The service was quick and efficient, reasonably priced, etc.

I’ll talk to you next week. Lots to catch up on regarding life on floor 17. Condomania will take you there….
