“…with memorable and engaging performances.” Claudia Puig, USA Today
“…an oddly sour, unappealing road-trip scenario.” Dennis Harvey, Variety
While the protagonists are self-righteous and the supporting cast is unrealistically eccentric, this enjoyable drama is quietly thoughtful and humorous. On the brink of parenthood, an unmarried boho couple still figuring out their lives sets out on a cross-country journey to find a place to call home. The movie road-trip is a tired trope, but theirs is a fresh and funny adventure as they visit hilariously outlandish friends and family brilliantly played by Catherine O’Hara and Allison Janney among others. The real life spouses who wrote the screenplay create such a vivid, realistic couple in Burt and Verona, and Krasinski and Rudolph’s winning performances are funny yet moving.
