“…can be enjoyed for the hell-raising hooey it is.” Peter Travers, Rolling Stone
“Preposterous.” Amy Binacolli, San Francisco Chronicle
This mildly enjoyable sequel to 2006’s The Da Vinci Code based on Dan Brown’s bestselling books is too long and has a complex maze of a plot, but it’s full of brisk action sequences and gorgeous shots of Rome. When an ancient secret society threatens to blow up the Vatican, Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon (an irksomely stiff Hanks) and an Italian scientist (an equally dull Zurer) embark on a predictable expedition to uncover the symbols and save the city. Fortunately it ends with a tasty twist, but A&D’s most scrumptious delight is McGregor who easily steals the movie from Hanks with his vivacious take as the interim pope.
