Juniper Tar has always been a trendsetting part of the Milwaukee music scene. From its recent appearance on Daytrotter to its featured role in the beautiful tour documentary Points of Interest, the band has managed to stay ahead of the curve in terms of marketing and expanding its music (which also happens to be really good).
The band’s next (and possibly coolest yet) creative leap kicks off tonight. Juniper Tar’s “First Waltz” amounts to a weekly, month-long residency at The Hotel Foster to build up to the April 27th release of the band’s highly anticipated new album, Since Before. Every Wednesday between now and the Turner Hall release show Juniper Tar will perform songs from the upcoming release along with serving as backing band to some of the biggest names in Milwaukee music. These artists, including Paul Cebar, Trapper Schoepp and Shane Hochstetler, will perform solo songs and conclude each evening with a cover song from the Band’s “Last Waltz” concert.
Another truly awesome move by one of Milwaukee’s most thoughtful and innovative local music fixtures. Be sure to head out to The Hotel Foster tonight and every Wednesday night for the next month. These promise to be events not to be missed!
