9 Things to Do in Milwaukee New Year’s Weekend: Dec. 30-Jan. 1

1. Calm and Bright: Holiday Lights Festival at The Domes

ALL WEEKEND | THE MITCHELL PARK DOMES

All is calm, all is bright at the Domes. It’s the last weekend of the Mitchell Park Domes’ Holiday Lights Festival. Enjoy a collection of pretty pinks, minty greens and warm reds on display. 

2. Ghostbusters With Orchestra

ALL WEEKEND | THE BRADLEY SYMPHONY CENTER

“Who you gonna call?” See the 1984 Ghostbusters on the big screen with a live concert performed by the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. There will be food and beverage service from Resonance Food Co. before the performances and during intermission. 


 

UNITY AWARDS EVENT

Join Milwaukee Magazine and Quad for the third-annual Unity Awards Event on March 8 from 6:30-9 p.m. at GATHER in the Deer District.


3. Bluey’s Big Play The Stage Show

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY | MILLER HIGH LIFE THEATER

The first-ever stage adaption of the beloved kids tv show is coming to Milwaukee New Years weekend. The show will have life-size puppets, music and more – making it fun for the whole family. 

4. Jump on the Jingle Bus

FRIDAY AT 6 P.M. | AVENUE MKE

Hop on the Jingle Bus for the last tour of the year! The Jingle Bus offers a 40-minute narrated tour that includes three lighted parks: “Community Spirit Park” at Cathedral Square Park, “Santa’s Celebration Square powered by We Energies” at Zeidler Union Square and “Christmas Chalet” at Pere Marquette Park. Pre-booking is required for all tours and tickets are $5 per person.

5. A Jolly Holiday

SATURDAY AT 1 AND 6:30 P.M. | BROADWAY THEATRE CENTER

It’s the last weekend to sing Disney’s Broadway Hits this holiday season with Skylight Music Theatre. Belt out the words to 30 of your favorite songs from Disney’s biggest Broadway hits. Tickets are available online

6. Harlem Globetrotters

SATURDAY AT 1 AND 6 P.M. | FISERV FORUM

The iconic Harlem Globetrotters are back in Milwaukee for this New Year’s Tradition! Enjoy a night of entertainment and outrageous basketball stunts. Tickets are available online.

7. Wild Lights at the Milwaukee Zoo

SATURDAY AT 5:30 P.M. | MILWAUKEE COUNTY ZOO

Saturday is the last day to catch the Milwaukee County Zoo lit up with sparkling holiday lights! Admission at the gate for adults is $20, children ages 3-12 are $18 and children two and under are free.

8. Polar Plunge

SUNDAY AT 12 P.M. | BRADFORD BEACH

Plunge into the new year by jumping into Lake Michigan on New Year’s Day as part of Polar Plunge Milwaukee. This Milwaukee tradition is free and open to the public. 

9. Meditate Milwaukee New Year’s Day 2023

SUNDAY AT 1 P.M. | RIVERSIDE THEATER

Set collective intentions for peace, compassion and understanding for the new year. This free event will feature a reflection from Jennifer Bartolotta, live music and guided meditation with local community leaders.
