Agrace
Agrace is a nonprofit, community-supported health care organization that provides compassionate end-of-life care to people across southern Wisconsin. Agrace provides hospice care wherever people live – in private homes, long-term care facilities or any other place they call home.
Volunteers assist in many ways, such as reading, playing music, delivering meals, or simply providing a caring presence. No healthcare experience is necessary – just a desire to make a meaningful impact in someone’s life.
People interested in working with the Agrace team can visit agrace.org/volunteer to fill out an application or call 414-245-2135. Agrace Volunteer Services will work with individuals to match skills and interests with the organization’s needs and provide comprehensive training.
Community Advocates
Milwaukee Women’s Center, a division of Community Advocates, is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year. Volunteers are at the heart of its mission to serve individuals and families fleeing domestic violence and homelessness.
Since its founding, MWC has relied on its team of volunteers to help create a safe, healing space for those in need, teaching the skills that will help individuals rebuild their lives.
Volunteers are needed for MWC’s children’s program, meal service and clothing bank.
In honor of National Volunteer Month, the Milwaukee Women’s Center invites everyone to consider joining its volunteer network. Volunteers’ time and energy make a lasting difference in the lives of those looking for hope and healing. For more information, or to sign up as a volunteer, visit communityadvocates.net/how-to-help.
Kathy’s House
Volunteers are critical to the mission of Kathy’s House. The organization, which provides affordable lodging and support for families traveling to Milwaukee for medical care, relies on help to staff its 38-room house near Froedtert Hospital.
“A volunteer is usually the first voice that guests hear on the phone and the first face they see walking through the door,” says Liz Beaudoin, Kathy’s House marketing director.
With only ten staff members, Kathy’s House relies on the work of volunteers. In 2024, 354 volunteers contributed 5,616 hours of service to Kathy’s House. Volunteers work the welcome desk and help with laundry, gardening, and repairs and cook hot meals for guests.

The Women’s Center
The Women’s Center in Waukesha provides safety, shelter and support for anyone experiencing domestic abuse, sexual violence, child abuse or trafficking. Annually, over 10,000 people use the emergency shelter, 24-hour hotline, community education and violence prevention programs as well as TWC’s legal advocacy support.
TWC has two types of opportunities available for those looking for regular, recurring volunteer work. Indirect Service volunteers help maintain the organization with administrative and logistical support, while Direct Service volunteers work directly with clients and programming staff. Due to the sensitive nature of the work, volunteering requires an interview and a background check. The Women’s Center also offers volunteer opportunities for groups of up to ten people who can help with inventory sorting, gardening, maintenance projects and more.
