  It’s festival season! Riverwest’s fest is always the first of the summer and their signature Beer Run/Walk is a much-anticipated event by people from every Milwaukee neighborhood. This non-competitive 1.8-mile race snakes through the streets of Riverwest and includes four mandatory beer stops at Nessun Dorma, Lakefront RBC, Falcon Bowl and Dino’s.

 

Locust Street Fest takes place all day Sunday, June 10 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Locust Street between Humboldt and Holton Streets. Alderman Nik Kovac will start the race at 11:30 a.m. sharp at the intersection of Booth and Locust Streets. You will feel like a beer-running celebrity as neighbors the lawns are littered with sprinklers, boom boxes, spectators and rummage sales. Rumor has it the racing sausages will make a cameo. There are even awards for the top three racers in each age division. You must drink to be eligible for prizes.

 

You can register in advance here or on Sunday at the starting line at 10 a.m. All participants must be 21 or older and registration is capped at 900 participants.

 

Enjoy the eccentricities of Riverwest all day with shopping, arts and crafts, street performers, tarot card readings and, of course, lots of music.
