As some restaurant dining rooms have recently reopened in Waukesha County, two have already closed due to COVID-19.
On Wednesday May 27, Casa Tequila announced on Facebook that a staff member at its Waukesha restaurant (2423 Kossow Rd., Waukesha) had tested positive for COVID-19 and that it was closing “as a precautionary measure.”
By Friday, May 29, the restaurant had updated the post to say that it has also closed its Pewaukee restaurant, because a staff member of that location had tested positive, as well. The company also operates locations in Hartford and West Bend.
Here is the post in its entirety:
We regret to inform you that an employee at Casa Tequila Waukesha has tested positive for COVID-19. As a precautionary measure and in consideration for the health and wellbeing of our associates and patrons, we have decided to close our Waukesha location. We will be closed for 2 weeks for all of our employees to be quarantined.
We apologize for any inconvenience and we ask for your understanding as we navigate these uncertain times. Health and safety are always our priority.
We are truly grateful for your support.
5/29/20 UPDATE: Pewaukee Location Closed
As an extra precaution we asked every employee at our Pewaukee location to get tested. Unfortunately one of our employees has received a positive result for COVID-19 and is asymptomatic.
Even though the health department does not require us to close, we have decided to close our Pewaukee location as well. The health and safety of our associates and patrons is paramount to us.
In a May 28 Facebook post, the owners of the Waukesha location of Sobelman’s Bar & Grill (332 Williams St., Waukesha) announced it, too, had closed temporarily because one of its staff members has tested positive for COVID-19. This was little more than a day after announcing on social media that they had reopened the dining room and patio.
The post says that despite being told by the Waukesha Health Department that the restaurant could stay open, they chose to close. Per the restaurant’s Facebook page page:
Dear Friends & Customers:
Despite being told by the Waukesha County Health Department that we can remain open, we have decided to close Sobelman’s Waukesha temporarily due to a staff member testing positive for COVID-19.
Our remaining staff, who have been wearing face masks as a precaution, have been referred to the Health Department and we will not reopen until everyone is cleared—the health of our staff, customers and community is paramount.
We appreciate your understanding and support.
