SUMMER IS JUST WITHIN GRASP, which means warmer weather, late nights and drive-in movie theaters – yes, in 2020 they are making a comeback.
Here are three drive-in movie theaters within driving distance of Milwaukee.
ADDRESS: 2801 S. 5th Ct., Milwaukee
Starting May 22 and 23, every Friday and Saturday through August, Bounce Milwaukee will feature apocalypse-themed movies. The weekend movie series is free to attend, but parking is limited. To find out what movies will be shown, check these Facebook events periodically.
ADDRESS: W6423 US Highway 18, Jefferson
The Highway 18’s retro neon sign will welcome you to the old-fashioned movie experience you’ve been missing. The stars in the sky, some burgers and fries and a 70-foot screen to enjoy the flicks on, the outdoor experience is the thing of movies themselves. The drive-in will reopen for the season on Friday, June 19.
ADDRESS: N9199 Winnebago Rd., Wisconsin Dells
Although a bit of a drive away, the Big Sky Twin Drive-In Theater in the Dells is among the few drive-in theaters that still exist. An official opening date has not been announced yet for this season, but they are “hopefully opening soon,” according to their website. The theater features four shows every night of the week until fall, come rain or come shine. The nostalgic venue even features two big screens to view the films on.
