15 Beer Events Brewing in Milwaukee This Week: March 22-26

Fans of sours and wild ales need to put Saturday’s Sour Fest at MobCraft on their calendar.

Wednesday, March 22

Week 2 of Merriment Madness at Merriment Social (240 E. Pittsburgh Ave.) pits burgers created by 1840 Brewing and Black Husky Brewing against each other. Head in all week to choose the burger you think should advance.

Thursday, March 23

New Barons Brewing Co-0p (2018 S. 1st St.) celebrates Women’s Month from 6 to 10 p.m. with a ladies night that includes the release of Loud As Helles lager. A portion of pint beer sales benefits Sojourner Family Peace Center.

Friday, March 24

1840 Brewing (342 E. Ward St.) is releasing The Cashmere Sweater Hash Cash Double IPA. Presale starts at 9 a.m. for this juicy gem. Pick up happens during the weekend.

The Small Batch Fridays release at Gathering Place Brewing Company (811 E. Vienna Ave. and 7208 W. North Ave.) is Pink Guava Saison.

Try samples from Eagle Park Brewing (3 to 6 p.m.), Oliphant Brewing (3 to 6 p.m.) and Bell’s Brewery (4 to 6 p.m.) at Discount Liquor Milwaukee (5031 W. Oklahoma Ave.).

Bells Brewery, New Belgium Brewing and Surly Brewing are handing out samples at Discount Liquor Waukesha (919 N. Barstow St.) from 4 to 6 p.m.

Saturday March 25

The Fermentorium (7481 WI-60 Trunk, Cedarburg) celebrates seven year of business from noon to 10 p.m. Expect live music, beer releases, a food truck and frivolity.

Pucker up, because the fifth annual Sour Fest is happening at MobCraft Beer (505 S. 5th St.) from noon to 7 p.m. This means the release of four variants of Sour Golden Ale and more than 25 sour or wild ales on the taps. There are also sampling sessions where you can try dozens of sours from a wide range of Wisconsin breweries.

Black Husky Brewing (909 E. Locust St.) is hosting Project Runway: BigWigs Edition at 4 p.m.  The funky fashion show includes pink beer, disco balls, a fog machine and several participants walking the pink carpet. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Susan G. Komen BigWig campaign.

The Bavarian Bierhaus (700 W. Lexington Blvd.) marks Halfway to Oktoberfest with a day of festivities that start at 11 a.m. Deals on liters of beer, a free keg tapping of Festbier at 4 p.m., live music and a meterwurst eating contest.

Yoga on Tap comes to Lion’s Tail Brewing (8520 W. North Ave.) at 11 a.m. The 45-minute session costs $20 and includes a beverage when you’re done.

Closer Everywhere Hazy IPA is the weekly release at Hacienda Beer Co. (2018 E. North Ave.) this weekend.

Gathering Place is handing out samples at Discount Liquor Milwaukee from noon to 3 p.m.

Try samples from Brewery Ommegang at Discount Liquor Waukesha from noon to 2 p.m.

Sunday, March 26

The Womxn’s Month Fest at Elwood’s Liquor and Tap (1111 N. Water St.) means sampling beer from 3 Sheeps Brewing, Surly Brewing, Revolution Brewing, New Barons, Bell’s Brewery, New Belgium Brewing, Eagle Park Brewing, Great Lakes Brewing, and Indeed Brewing. It also means a mini maker’s market and even tattoos. Cost is $5 to sample from 1 to 4 p.m. and proceeds benefit Sojourner Family Peace Center.
