15 Beer Events Brewing in Milwaukee This Week: Aug. 9-14

The Great Taste of the Midwest is this week, but if you’re not fortunate enough to have tickets there’s still plenty of beer events to keep you busy in Milwaukee.

Tuesday, Aug. 9

This week, Blackbird Bar (3007 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.) hosts Taste Your City, where you get to sample a few local beers from 6 to 9 p.m. on Blackbird’s patio. Lakefront Brewery, New Barons Brewing Co-op, Eagle Park Brewing and Indeed Brewing will be there on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the guests of honor are Third Space Brewing, Hacienda Beer Co., Enlightened Brewing, Component Brewing and Amorphic Beer.

Wednesday, Aug. 10

The Tap Yard Waukesha (1150 W. Sunset Dr.) is giving over a few of its taps to Great Lakes Brewing Co. The Plant & Sip Succulent Bar will also be there. Build your green arrangement from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $60 and includes a free beer.

Thursday, Aug. 11

Broken Bat Brewing is once again releasing Can of Corn, an ale made with corn harvested from the Field of Dreams in Dyersville, Iowa. The limited beer will be available when the taproom opens at 3 p.m.

Discount Liquor Milwaukee (5031 W. Oklahoma Ave.) is offering samples from Third Space Brewing and Rhinegeist Brewery from 4 to 6 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 12

The weekly release at 1840 Brewing Company (342 E. Ward St.) is Open, Not Welcome!, a double IPA. One dollar from each bottle sold goes toward the medical bills of Mike Romans, Milwaukee’s godfather of craft beer, who is battling cancer. Presale starts at 9 a.m.

Rhinegeist and Terrapin Beer Company are handing out samples at Discount Liquor Waukesha (919 N. Barstow St.) from 4 to 6 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 13

Wisconsin’s most revered beer festival, Great Taste of the Midwest, is happening at Olin Park in Madison. The event is sold out, per usual, but Madison won’t be short on great beer events leading up to the weekend.

Enlightened Brewing Company (2020 S. Allis St.) is throwing a Summer Block Party from 3 to 10 p.m. The brewery is releasing three new Rough Draught Series beers. Forest Friend, Campsite Lite and Dole Face are all session pale ales and ideal for a summer bash. There will also be food and live music.

Component Brewing and New Barons Brewing Co-op are hosting a Concrete Island Party from 2 to 10 p.m. at the Lincoln Warehouse (2018 S. 1st St.). Hawaiian shirts are encouraged for the event that includes a pig roast from 3 to 6 p.m. and live music.

A pair of beers are being released at Hacienda Beer Co. (2018 E. North Ave.) this weekend. Empires of the Mind is a hazy IPA, and Inside of Outside, a collaboration with Supermoon Beer Co., is a hoppy saison fermented in oak barrels.

Seltzer and Cider Day comes to The Tap Yard Milwaukee (1555 N. Rivercenter Dr.) for those who need a break from beer.

Try samples from Good City Brewing at Discount Liquor Milwaukee from noon to 2 p.m.

Gathering Place Brewing is offering samples at Discount Liquor Waukesha from 1 to 3 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 14

Yoga in Your Third Space returns to Third Space Brewing (1505 W. St. Paul Ave.). The 75-minute yoga session begins at 10:30 a.m. and the $23 ticket price earns you a beverage when you’re done.

Food Truck Frenzy comes to The Tap Yard West Bend (4875 County Rd. Z). Expect around 10 different food trucks between noon at 6 p.m.
