Meet Hundreds of Adoptable Animals at the Largest Non-Profit Pet Expo in Wisconsin

The Wisconsin Expo Center is soon to be crawling with creatures furry, hairy and scaly.

Current and prospective pet owners won’t want to miss the 14th Annual Great Lakes Pet Expo on Saturday, February 3 at the Wisconsin Exposition Center at State Fair Park (8200 W. Greenfield Ave.).

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., visitors have the chance to meet scores of animals, from bunnies to horses to snakes. Hundreds of rescue animals and pets from local shelters will be available for adoption. And who knows? You might even go home with a new best friend.

Fascinating animal exhibits will be on display throughout 140,000 square feet, in addition to a showcase of new pet products, interactive educational areas and presentations. Highlights include dancing horses, local firefighters competing against canine agility stars, the Parade of Rescues and, of course, the Puppy Bowl.

Best of all: proceeds benefit the state’s homeless pet population through the Alliance of Wisconsin Animal Rehoming Efforts (AWARE), an organization that aims to better the lives of companion animals.

A VIP shopping hour will take place from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., where you can score deals on loads of pet products before the crowds arrive. Admission to the VIP shopping hour is $15 for ages 13 and up and $3 for kids 5-12. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., admission is $7 for ages 13 and up and $5 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Children 12 and under and veterans with military ID get in free from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
