14 Things to Do in Milwaukee for 414 Day

Celebrate the city with limited-edition sneakers, discounted pints, markets and more.

1. Get Limited-Edition Kicks

Adidas Cornerstone Community is collaborating with Eric “Shake” James, owner and founder of Clicks, to release a limited-edition Adidas Rivalry low for 414 Day. This sneaker pays homage to Milwaukee and the state of Wisconsin with a Bucks-inspired colorway, an embroidered Wisconsin cheese on the heel and a cheese-themed Adidas tongue tag. Only 414 pairs are available, and they go on sale April 13.

2. Begin Your Day at Company Brewing

Brunch starts at 11 a.m., giving guests time to fuel up for 414 Day festivities in the Riverwest neighborhood. DJ Sandy will spin his tracks from noon to 2 p.m., setting the vibes for your Sunday celebration. Already ate? That’s alright. It’s free to hangout and jam with good company at Company Brewing.

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!

3. Watch the Flag Drop

Head to City Hall to ring in 414 Day with the 5th annual flag drop. At 10 a.m., the city will drape the 414 flag in front of the landmark. FUEL Cafe and BelAir Cantina will be on site, providing complimentary breakfast burritos and coffee to event goers. Hangout by the multimedia booth with DJ ZSMOOV from Jammin 98.3 FM, and get a free limited-edition T-shirt from 414 Milwaukeee, while supplies last.

4. Contribute to a Community Tapestry

Harmonic Harvest’s “Renaissance Threads: A Tapestry of Silver Linings” event invites community members to tell their silver lining stories on fabric that resonates with their individuality, with tools ranging from fabric markers to needle and thread. Harmonic Harvest will weave each piece together, putting a collective positive force into physical form. Stop by one of the org’s “Harmonic Hubs” – MARN Art + Culture Hub, Mitchell Street Arts, Carmen Playfield and La Gente Art – to participate. Register for free online.

5. Try the Milwaukee Day Beer

J. Leinenkugel’s Barrel Yard will roll out an exclusive beer to celebrate Milwaukee Day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. This Milwaukee-inspired beer is a Berliner Weisse, a historic German wheat ale originating from Berlin, that will be brewed on site at American Family Field.

6. Shop the Artist Market

Cactus Club is hosting a 414 Day Artist Market to celebrate the city with its local artists and vendors. Shop Milwaukee creatives – including Black-owned clothing brand Chase my Creations, handmade jewelry by Whimsical World of Waarvik and Maya Ophelia’s plant-based comfort food – from noon to 4 p.m.

7. Soak up the Sun

This year’s 414 Day expects a high of 75 degrees! Take your pick of the many Milwaukee County Parks, hangout by the lakefront or take your fur baby to the Bay View Dog Park to get your taste of summer on 414 Day.

8. Check out the First Ever Bite Size Market

Jungle Gems, a vintage streetwear brand based in Milwaukee since 2013, is partnering with Bay View’s new take-out fried food spot Todd I Believe I Can Fry to host the first ‘Bite Size Market’ on 414 Day. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., enjoy music, local shopping, Korean fried chicken and many other dishes at 2159 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.

9. Head to The Cooperage

Celebrate the city on the lakefront underneath the Hoan Bridge with local art, vendors and music at The Cooperage. Doors open at 5 p.m. – buy tickets online.

10. Celebrate at 3rd Street Market Hall

3rd Street Market Hall is teaming up with Mercadera Market to create a hub of 34 local vendors for an 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. celebration. Snap a pic in front of the 414-themed backdrop, showing off your face paint and favorite Milwaukee Day cocktail.

11. Drink Discounted Pints

The Milwaukee Film Festival has just begun, and it’s offering 30 motion pictures this 414 Day. See what’s showing at the historic Oriental and Downer Theatres, the Avalon Theater and Times Cinema here, including The Milwaukee Show I, which features short films from local filmmakers.
