14 Beer Events Brewing in Milwaukee This Week: Aug. 20-24

Beer gardens are still in full swing – and heads up, Oktoberfest events are right around the corner.

Tuesday, Aug. 20

Taste and critique homebrews competing to be released commercially by New Barons Brewing Co-op (2018 S. First St.). The Beer Keep competition starts at 6 p.m.

Wednesday, Aug. 21

Friends of Lakeshore State Park hosts a Beer and a Bonfire Night from 5-8 p.m. at Lakeshore State Park (500 N. Harbor Dr.). Lakefront Brewery is providing the beer.

City Lights Brewing (2200 W. Mt. Vernon Ave.) is hosting Game Night in the Valley. There will be giant Jenga and Connect Four, ladderball, and all sorts of other fun courtesy of Yard Games MKE and Fun Beer Tours Milwaukee.

1840 Brewing Company has two releases this week, the popular The Cashmere Sweater imperial IPA and Dehydrated Morgan Wallen, a tropical fruited sour.

Thursday, Aug. 22

1840 Brewing is pouring beers at the West Allis Summer Concert Series at Veterans Memorial Park (6900 W. National Ave.) from 5-8 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 23

Head to The Landing at Hoyt Park (1800 N. Swan Blvd.) at 5 p.m. for a beer release and tap takeover by Lion’s Tail Brewing and Young Blood Beer Co. The Other Guy from Wham is a sour beer collaboration by the two, and it will be on tap alongside some other beers by the two Wisconsin breweries. Apologies to Andrew Ridgeley.

This is the last weekend of Brews & Blooms, the pop-up beer garden at the Wauwatosa Historical Society (7406 Hillcrest Dr.). The beer garden is open from 3-9 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Raised Grain Brewing’s pop-up beer garden heads to the Retzer Nature Center (S14 W28167 Madison St., Waukesha) over the weekend. Hours are 4-9 p.m. on Friday and 3-9 p.m. on Saturday.

1840 Brewing’s Beer Garden Road Show is pouring beer at the Liberty Heights Beer Garden (1540 S. 62nd St.) from 4-9 p.m.

Try samples from Lagunitas Brewing Company at Discount Liquor Milwaukee (5031 W. Oklahoma Ave.) from 3-5 p.m.

Discount Liquor Waukesha (919 N. Barstow St.) is offering samples from Hinterland Brewery from 3-5 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 24

The Tap Yard – Waukesha (1927 E. Sunset Dr.) is the site of Wagfest from 12-6 p.m. There will be a doggy food truck, dog costume contest, dog tricks and more. Plus, if you bring dog food or gently used supplies you get $1 off of your first beer.

Klode Park (960 N. Lake Dr.) is the next stop for 1840 Brewing’s Beer Garden Road Show. They’ll be pouring from 2-9 p.m.

Duvel is offering samples at Discount Liquor Waukesha from 12-2 p.m.

Coming Soon

Sept. 6: Amorphic Beer (3700 N. Fratney St.) has another Crops on Top Beer Dinner. Seating is extremely limited.

Sept. 7: Pilot Project (1128 N. 9th St.) is bringing its Pilot Project Fest to Milwaukee. Roughly 20 breweries will be there. The annual ERV-toberfest is also scheduled at Erv’s Mug (130 W. Ryan Rd.).

Sept. 14: Busby’s (3475 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.) is hosting the Backyard Busby-Q from 2-8 p.m. Central Waters Brewing is the guest of honor.
