14 Beer Events Brewing in Milwaukee This Week: Aug. 14-18

Gathering Place Brewing turns seven, and Station No. 06 turns five. Both are hosting big events on Saturday to mark the yearly milestones.

Wednesday, Aug. 14

Magellan’s on Main Street (370 W. Main St., Waukesha) is offering free samples of six different beers from both Eagle Park Brewing and MKE Brewing from 5-7 p.m.

The weekly beer release at 1840 Brewing Company is Smallwaukee, a table beer with a modest 3.7% ABV.

Thursday, Aug. 15

Working Draft Beer Company hands out samples at Discount Liquor Milwaukee (5031 W. Oklahoma Ave.) from 3-5 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 16

Try samples from Great Lakes Brewing at Discount Liquor Milwaukee from 3-5 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 17

The latest Wisconsin Brewery Run takes place at Perspective Brewing Company (7508 W. Greenfield Ave.). The casual 5K run starts at 11 a.m. and the $35 ticket gets you a free beer.

The patio at Lakefront Brewery (1872 N. Commerce St.) will be lively during Hoancoming, the annual fundraiser for Light the Hoan. There will be live music from 2-8 p.m., food from the CurdWagon, and plenty of beer, of course.

Gathering Place Brewing (811 E. Vienna Ave.) is releasing three limited Belgian beers during its 7th anniversary party. Each is already available for presale and each will be on tap at both Gathering Place locations. The anniversary celebration starts at noon and includes the pouring of a few other rarities.

Component Brewing and New Barons Brewing Co-op are teaming up to host a Concrete Island Party from 1 to 7 p.m. There will be a pig roast, reggae music and plenty of beer from both breweries.

Station No. 06 (6800 W. Becher St.) marks five years of business with a party that will include several rare beer taps from the likes of Trillium Brewing, 3 Sheeps Brewing, Central Waters Brewing and more.

Looking for a new best friend? Head to Eagle Park Brewing (S64 W15924 Commerce Center Pkwy., Muskego) for Puppers on the Patio. The adoption event runs from 1-4 p.m. Adopt a beer or two if you can’t commit to a dog.

Another strongman competition comes to Black Husky Brewing (909 E. Locust St.). Battle at the Breweries IV: Defend or Conquer happens from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Watch competitors carry and lift heavy things, while you lift your 16-ounce beer.

Discount Liquor Milwaukee offers samples from Duvel from 12-3 p.m.

Great Lakes Brewing is pouring samples at Discount Liquor Waukesha (919 N. Barstow St.) from 12-2 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 18

The Great Milwaukee Brewery Bike Race is happening between Gathering Place Brewing and Enlightened Brewing Company. The ride between the two breweries starts at 2 p.m. You pick where you want to start, have a beer, ride to the other brewery, have a beer, and then ride back to the starting point where you finish with, you guessed it, a beer. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 on the day of the ride.

The Tap Yard – Waukesha (1927 E. Sunset Dr.) hosts the Taste of Waukesha, which means several local food trucks will be there from noon to 6 p.m.

Coming Soon

Sept. 7: Pilot Project (1128 N. 9th St.) is bringing its Pilot Project Fest to Milwaukee. Roughly 20 breweries will be there. The annual ERV-toberfest is also scheduled at Erv’s Mug (130 W. Ryan Rd.).
