Third Space Brewing heads to Ray’s Growler Gallery (8930 W. North Ave.) and is bringing the latest Deconstructed Dessert Series barrel-aged stouts. The German Chocolate Cake is a combination of five deconstructed variants—The Beer, The Chocolate, The Vanilla, The Coconut and The Pecan. Third Space is also tapping some other treats at 4 p.m.
Lakefront Brewery’s four-stage release party for Bumble Bear Honey Brown Ale continues this week at Camp Bar Third Ward (525 E. Menomonee St.). Get there at 6 p.m. to try some.
Thursday, Jan. 27
The first of several beer schools at Third Space Brewing (1505 W. St. Paul Ave.) happens at 6:30 p.m. The first covers how to taste and evaluate beer and is hosted by head brewer Kevin Wright.
This year’s survey covers more than 60 categories, including restaurants, retailers, salons, financial advisers and much, much more. Vote often – polling reopens every day, and every time you vote, you will be automatically entered into a drawing to win one of five awesome prizes!
Friday, Jan. 28
The seventh anniversary party at The Brass Tap (7808 W. Layton Ave.) is a biggie. It starts when the place opens on Friday at 11 a.m. and continues through Saturday night. The amazing tap list includes some barrel-aged gems from the likes of Revolution Brewing and Transient Artisan Ales, some hard-to-find IPAs, a few sours and some other treats. On Saturday, The Brass Tap will be tapping a Central Waters 24th Anniversary Stout as part of the fun.
Sugar Maple (441 E. Lincoln Ave.) is pouring unique beers from Japas Cervejaria, a Brazilian brewery owned by three Japanese-Brazilian women. Try a few of their brews starting at 5 p.m.
This week’s beer release at 1840 Brewing Company (342 E. Ward St.) is Crispy Wheat Persuasion, a wheat lager. It’ll be on tap starting Wednesday at 4 p.m. Bottle presale starts at 9 a.m. on Friday and pickup stats at 3 p.m.
Third Space is releasing a new beer on Friday. Robot Butcher is a hazy double IPA with a 7.8% ABV.
Saturday, Jan. 29
Supermoon Beer Co. is releasing Many Phases Blend No. 003, a blended farmhouse-style ale aged in French oak barrels. Preorder is up and running, and pickup is from noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Cheers to Explorium Brewpub (5300 S. 76th St.) for celebrating five years in business. The anniversary party starts at 7 p.m. and includes live music and the release of their 5th Annual Imperial Stout.
Every year, Third Space Brewing transforms itself into a 80s ski lodge for Ice Bear Fest. The Menomonee Valley’s best aprés ski party returns from noon to 5 p.m. Wear your best fluorescent ski suit and enjoy Third Space Baltic Porter, music, a Heaven’s Table BBQ food truck and more. The event is free, but if you want to go in style, pay $20 and you get a fanny pack, stylish sunglasses and a color-changing mug.
This is cool. Black Husky Brewing (909 E. Locust St.) is hosting the Milwaukee Mayoral Firkin Tapping. All seven mayoral candidates will be there and each will tap a firkin at 4 p.m. All proceeds from the firkins benefit the River Revitalization Foundation’s Turtle Park. The firkin fun is in conjunction with the Lakefront My Turn: Tyler Grand Cru beer release that starts at Black Husky at noon. It’s a big day in Riverwest.
Central Waters is pouring barrel-aged 24th Anniversary Stout, and the Coconut Macaroon variant, at its Milwaukee taproom (1037 W. Juneau Ave.). Keep an eye on their website for more information.
