10 Things to Do in Milwaukee This Weekend: May 6-8

From Pet Palooza to BikerFest, there is a lot to do this weekend in Milwaukee.

1. Hog Fest 2022

FRIDAY AT 5:45 P.M. | FISERV FORUM

This festival hosted by 102.9 The Hog is welcoming headliner Godsmack to the Fiserv Forum. The roster of other performers includes Three Days Grace, Asking Alexandria, Wage War and Lilith Czar. You have the option of purchasing a VIP ticket, which allows for early entry into the pre-show party and a reserved seat within the first eight rows. All tickets (prices vary) can be purchased online. Doors for the show open at 5 p.m.

2. Pet Palooza 

SATURDAY AT 10 A.M. | DOWNTOWN GREENDALE 

Participate in fun, pet-related activities in Downtown Greendale this weekend. Festivities include an agility course, make and take crafts, a pet fashion show and a pet psychic, who can tell you what your pet is thinking. Shopping and food is available for humans too.

3. Cinco De Mayo Family Festival

SATURDAY AT 11 A.M. | UMOS OFFICES

This year celebrates the 160th anniversary of Cinco De Mayo and the 5th annual Cinco De Mayo Fest in Wisconsin. Head over to UMOS Offices for a family friendly festival including live traditional entertainment, music, dancers, Mariachis, a car show, a chili pepper eating contest and more. The event is free admission.

4. Sidewalk Chalk Art Festival

SATURDAY AT 11 A.M. | HAGGERTY MUSEUM OF ART 

Celebrate artist Keith Haring’s birthday by registering for a sidewalk square around the Haggerty Museum of Art on Marquette’s campus. Create chalk art inspired by Haring on your square during this free, family-friendly event. The festival includes live music and food by Twisted Plants vegan cuisine, Africa’s Finest Cuisine and Bebe’s Bistro comfort food.

5. Arts@Large Block Party

SATURDAY AT 12 P.M. | ARTS @ LARGE

Celebrate Arts @ Large’s 20th year of engaging the community in arts. This free event features a makers market, food vendors, art workshops and live music from local bands Don Linke, DJ Jakhaan, Smoke ‘n Mirrors and Abraxes.

6. BikerFest Block Party

SATURDAY AT 12 P.M. | FONDY FARMER’S MARKET

Learn about motorcycle safety, education and awareness at the family-friendly, annual BikerFest. The event is designed to connect people interested in the sport with businesses that can supply goods and services in a safe environment. The festival is free and includes performances, demonstrations, motorcycle stunt shows, food vendors and more.

7. The Art of Color Opening Reception

SATURDAY 2 P.M. | MUSEUM OF WISCONSIN ART

The Museum of Wisconsin Art is hosting an opening reception this Saturday of Milwaukee-area artist Marion Coffey’s (1924-2011) exhibition, The Art of Color, a decade after her death. Coffey’s work shares the story of a women finding success in a “mans industry.” The exhibition will showcase around 40 works by Coffey, some of which are available to the public for the first time. The exhibition will be on view from May 7 to July 10.  The MOWA is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and admission is $15 to provide unlimited visits for a full year.

8. St. James 1868 Derby Party

SATURDAY 2 P.M. | ST. JAMES 1868

St. James 1868 owner, Kate Crowle, is celebrating the venues grand opening in Milwaukee with a Derby Party. The event is a reschedule from 2020 when it was delayed due to COVID-19. The Derby Party takes place throughout the St. James facility with two indoor and two outdoor venues. The event will include live music, food, cocktails and viewing the Kentucky Derby on oversized projections. Tickets are $95 with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

9. Talk Derby To Me

SATURDAY AT 2 P.M. | THE IRON HORSE HOTEL 

Head over to the Iron Horse Hotel for a Derby party! The hotel is offering additional bars, vendors, food trucks, Mint Julep drink packages, three VIP areas with table service, live music and jumbo screens. Be sure to wear your best hat or bow tie for the contest and have your photo taken with a 360 degree video booth. The event is free with VIP packages available for purchase.

10. Into The Woods

ALL WEEKEND | UW-MILWAUKEE

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Peck School of the Arts presents the Tony Award-winning musical Into The Woods. Catch the show Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Get tickets in person or online starting at $20 for general admission, $12 for UWM Faculty and Staff, $4 for UWM Students with identification and $7 for youth under 18 years of age.
