Leopard Mural Completed on Farwell

Art and commerce commingle on Farwell Avenue, where a local artist has teamed up with a local business to create an 80-feet wide mural.

Stacey Williams-Ng, director of the Black Cat Alley street art movement, paired up with local business Kashou Carpets to create a mural on the side of the 106-year-old luxury flooring company. Williams-Ng is a narrative painter as well as an arts writer, illustrator and instructor with a background in creative directing and graphic design.

“Through this mural, we are appreciating art,” said third-generation family owner Bob Kashou.

The Kashou family are no foreigners to running successful family businesses; Bob’s brothers George and John opened Kangaroo Brands, a local bakery that has been producing pita products since 1979.

The Kashou Carpets mural extends almost 80 feet and features a 52-foot-long leopard in front of brightly colored geometric shapes and animal-print patterns.

Drive southbound on Farwell to spot the impressive leopard, which is illuminated by lanterns at night (2169 N. Farwell Ave.).
