Klassik is a Milwaukee music fixture. His 2019 album QUIET netted him a critic’s choice award for Album of the Year from Radio Milwaukee, along with the Best Solo Artist award. The multi-instrumentalist singer, songwriter, rapper, producer and performer blends many genres in his work.
“I am born, raised and based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the greatest city in the whole world,” Klassik says. “When deciding to be an artist, I wanted to be very conscious and very intentional with making art that withstood the test of time.”
This year, he also wrote original music for the Milwaukee Chamber Theatre’s production of Where Did We Sit on the Bus?
“My message is always … find a thing that makes you tick, that makes you move a little different, that fulfills a thing, that scratches an itch, that brings you a certain joy that you can’t get from anyone else or from anything else,” Klassik says. “There’s a thing out there in this world that everybody has that is going to bring them that spark.”
In 2022, Joey Grihalva wrote The Milwaukeean: A Tale of Tragedy and Triumph, a biography of Klassik. Milwaukee Magazine published an excerpt from the book, which you can read here.
See Klassik perform live at Nō Studios on Friday, Nov. 25 at 7 p.m. Tickets and more information are available here.
