Upcoming Fashion Show to Showcase Student Designs

This year’s show will feature over 80 garments created by talented fashion design students.

On May 5, fashion design students from Mount Mary University will be given the opportunity to present their creations at the CREO 2017 student fashion show. Themed “Transcend,” the fashion show is part of Mount Mary’s annual CREO art and design celebration that exhibits senior students’ work from the School of Arts and Design. “CREO” comes from the Latin word for “to make, create or produce.”

Alongside Milwaukee’s best production professionals, Mount Mary merchandise management students are planning and producing the show, which will spotlight garments from senior, junior and sophomore student designers.

Student designer Ana Mercado, inspired by responsible and sustainable clothing trends, has created her entire collection from old bed sheets, blankets and pillows. Since her garments cater to those with special needs, Mercado has asked individuals with Downs Syndrome to model her clothing for the show.

In support of local talent, community and industry supporters from Milwaukee’s fashion and retail community have come together to provide achievement awards and event sponsorship. Sponsors include the Brady Corp. Fashion Angels, Harley-Davidson Motor Company and Rhody & Carolyn Megal.

The show will take place at Turner Hall Ballroom (1040 N. 4th St.) at 1:30 p.m., 6 p.m., and 8:30 p.m. Ticket prices vary.
